Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas’ Disaster Response Program strives to meet the needs of our nine county service area to assist with mitigation, preparation, relief and recovery efforts in response to and anticipation of disasters, as well as to coordinate these efforts with other organizations throughout the communities. We primarily focus on 3 areas of service
DISASTER RELIEF:
Catholic Charities performs as second-line responders by coordinating and collaborating with first-line responders such as the Salvation Army, American Red Cross and Emergency Management. Disaster Relief is provided in the form of gift card or voucher assistance through the Gift Card Program. Relief efforts focus on individuals’ emergency needs in the immediate aftermath of a disaster.
DISASTER RECOVERY:
Catholic Charities provides Disaster Recovery Case Management to assist individuals affected by a disaster in developing and implementing a Disaster Recovery Plan and with accessing resources in the community. In addition, Catholic Charities may implement the Recovery Stage of the Gift Card Program to assist individuals with meeting the final needs of their Disaster Recovery Plan.
PREPARATION & MITIGATION:
Catholic Charities works collaboratively with other community organizations and government entities year-round to develop effective mechanisms to respond in a coordinated effort in the event of a disaster. In addition, these organizations work collectively to provide information and resources to the community to assist with disaster preparation and mitigation efforts.
