FACILITY & RESPONSE INFORMATION
Thursday morning, September 11, 2008 at 6:00am, Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas Offices complied with the mandatory evacuation order and closed their doors for services. On September 13th, Hurricane Ike severely impacted many community members in our nine county service area.
Our Central Services Facility received only minor damage with no apparent leaks. Once power was restored we were ready to open for staff to develop and provide emergency services to those in need. The Disaster, Trauma & Loss Team actively worked within the community to identify/establish Community Resource Sites (CRS) and PODS (Points of Distribution). We worked in collaboration with a number of agencies. A representative of CCUSA (Catholic Charities USA) was dispatched to assist in our efforts and ongoing volunteer assistance from the Catholic Charities Network is being utilized as made available.
