OVERVIEW OF CATHOLIC CHARITIES

Catholic Charities is charged by the Diocese of Beaumont to defend and insure the preservation of human dignity. Inspired by the social teachings of the Church, we strive to improve the lives of those individuals and families who utilize our services, by recognizing and addressing the evolving needs of our society. It is our vision to achieve a universal community that is stronger physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, willing and empowered to care for the needs of all its members.

Services of Catholic Charities are available in most counties comprising the territory of the Diocese of Beaumont: Jefferson, Orange, Hardin, Chambers, Jasper, Liberty, Newton, Polk, and Tyler.  Catholic Charities provides services to individuals and families regardless of their religious beliefs.

Catholic Charities currently operates 8 programs:

Our success in Providing Help and Creating Hope is contingent on the strength of our volunteer program, as well as financial support from contractual agreements, the Diocese of Beaumont and other dioceses, fellow Catholic Charities agencies, local businesses, generous foundations and caring individuals.  We are humbled by our ability to assist our community through the efforts of our supporters.  If you are interested in learning more about the programs we offer or how you can become involved in our mission, please contact us at catholiccharities@catholiccharitiesbmt.org or (409) 924-4400.  Together, we strive to make Southeast Texas a better place to live.

Happy 100th Anniversary Catholic Charities USA!

In September 1910, a network of Catholic social agencies (the National Conference of Catholic Charities) convened in Washington, DC, marking the formation of an alliance of agencies striving to "bring about a sense of solidarity" among organizations committed to charitable works in fulfillment of the Gospel mandate. Out of that association of like-minded charities sprang the birth of Catholic Charities USA, the national resource that unites local charitable agencies in their continued efforts to reduce poverty in America.

Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas salutes Catholic Charities USA as it marks its centennial anniversary. September 26, 2010 has been designated as a national Catholic Charities Sunday to pay tribute to Catholic Charities USA's impact in its 100 years of existence and to promote the work of local Catholic Charities agencies.

In 2010, please be especially conscious of praying and contributing financial resources to keep the mission of Catholic Charities vibrant in Southeast Texas. Thanks for your support!
